9 inches right out to the 1st change in ice. Anywhere from 4 to 2 after that.

Here's some pics of the north end this morning at Carlsona.

Looks like the lake is making some real progress. im sure the smaller lakes around mille lacs have some people fishing on them already. I have been monitoring all of the webcams via the webcams tab on this website along with some other webcams throughout the state. Ice is being made people.

With that being said i by no means will be the first one out there and the last one off. especially the case with mille lacs. However with seeing a portable out of chapmans and hunter winfields yesterday and today, i am kind of curious if that indiviual or individuals are on this forum.

if so hows the ice in isle bay?
whats the thickness?
purely small perch, sunfish, and or crappies?

im sure there are more than me on this website that would like to know.

also has anyone taken a spud and or an auger to the newly formed ice by cedar creek?

Ice conditions, thickness, etc, etc....

Tim Chapman (Chapmans Resort) has staked a road out 2 miles and found 7" in most areas. They are open to  4 wheeler and walk on this weekend 11/20.

despite the ice being early i want to let everyone that is planning on going out on the big water over the next couple days to a week to be carfeul! take a buddy. let people know where you are going. where else you might go fishing. and how long you might fish. I dont want to hear about anyone going in. Unfortunately i know it will happen if not on mille lacs it will happen somewhere else!

Be safe!
Happy thanksgiving to all!

very well said!

why....take any chances period

I plan to wait till next week before I do any ice depth checks at the resort. Its early!

besides...now we might have a weather system coming in after the weekend, might bring us some snow.....thats not what we want right now. Lets hope it doesn't amount to much

All the ice is blowing north right now with the south wind. With warmer temps coming it's better to wait for a week and let what we have grow a little.

If you just can't wait, though, bring your picks.
