This site should be all about evidence and not opinion.

If O'Brien has an opinion that this is 'just a rock' then he should post evidence of other views showing that ALL the 'flippers' are not connected to the 'body'.

THEN we can call the case closed. smile.gif

Until then it is just his opinion, which is worse than ours, because on this thread there are at least 2 or 3 good examples of flippers and bodies appearing as if they are attached.

Over to you O'Brien....

God forbid, someone have an "Opinion" and not fact all the time. Opinions are forbidden! Ban him now! =) thanks poster, i thought this was cool. Some only want pure facts and evidence, I believe in either, facts and proof are great, but speculation is a must!

O'brien has told me it is actually an illusion.  All that is really there is a rock, as evidenced in other photos in the same area on different days.  Wonderful illusion.

Hopefully he will put up some links and explain his reasoning.  Still hurts that this is just another stone.

However, we can't make jump to the conclusion that these are sentient just based on a picture or two.

Does anyone else see anything looking like this?

Ok this guy gives me the heebie geebies.
It looks like he is creeping up on the rover
staring right at it. Instead of a paddle I think it is
holding some kind of weapon.  He's almost in a kind of
milatary crawl.

And how about this little guy on the circled on the left?
It has four legs and a silly smirk.
Maybe the creepy guy pet?
Too much fun thanks for the find ARP2.

This is an intriguing one.  I showed the image to a few random people, most said it looked like some kind of amphibian thing.  I never told them what it really was or where it was, though, to avoid bias.  One person did say that it may just be an illusion like an inkblot, but then again, I wouldn't expect it to be present in multiple places in multiple images.
As for speculation, how does it eat?  What does it eat?  What about the social behavior apparent here?  What type of environment does it live in?  Are those feathery bristle-like hairs on the head of the one on the left a sign of maturity or sexual dimorphism?  How fast are they?  Are they toward the top or bottom of the food chain?  Etcetera?
I honestly do not think that the one you show in the mud is anything but either a rock or a failed attempt at covering up another individual.  However, the "mud" is far too smooth, and reminds me more of an advanced airbrushing technique gone bad.  By the way, the boulder to the left of the first individual is obviously not really there.  The lighting is wrong, there is no shadow, it overlaps everything, etc.
The creature on the left has pretty thick forelimbs.  It's hind limbs seem minuscule in comparison.  The fact that it has flippers suggests an environment where either water or very smooth sand dunes are common.  Otherwise, flippers just don't make much sense, like in the environment where it is depicted.

This may be off topic, but why is it that on Mars, the rover never get stuck, break down, etcetera, and never even come close to the water-rich, flora-infested areas of the south polar region, and only stay in a tiny area that looks like the same place in Arizona or something all the time?  Food for thought- more profitable.  You don't have as much to airbrush out, or as many pictures to burn, etc.  You can get away with more color tampering as well.  And you can paint it as inhospitable and uncomfortable, with minimal effort.

Houston we have a problem !

I automatically save my images in the format the web-site gives which is usually an image number. If I need it again I google it and go to the appropriate site.

This morning neither Google or Yahoo can find these image numbers except on our own AA site.

What the ****, it appears that all the images I have saved in the prescribed format are now invalid.

HELP please !!! Am I doing something wrong today or imagining that all my work has now dissapeared. I eve found an old link and tried that and it was invalid !

Perhaps this flipper appendage could be the snake-head type thing that we have seen in other (Skippers?) pictures. Cannot remember where, sorry. Also, I dont remember noticing a 'head' part of it before, but in your pictures, they do appear to be travelling in a group.

Hi,
I have finally had the chance to find again and highlight something that to me is a sign of a lifeform.  This apparent lifeform, a "long-armed being" has what the name implies, that is, long arms as you see in the images below highlighted in blue.  This being can crawl low to the ground too.  I think I do have more of these beings that I need to find again, most likely in a separate hard drive in hundreds of other mars images...confuse

The first image shows the two beings and in the second image it's the same area but includes what looks to be a third long armed being probably in mud, low  to/in ground a bit. I think they are the same lifeform due to similarities between the three. The front of them has a circular "head" type end and in back, at least to one side is a "flipper" type appendage, on ALL THREE beings.  Remember that nasa is trying to make these resemble rocks, but since when do rocks have long arms and flippers and resemble each other?

To find them, I noticed they travel in small groups.... as in this area...
