I take it theres no Pitch Inspection? Plenty of games in kent at risk or off due to the rain we are suffering. Lets hope it doesnt affect the crowd too much, Albeit Maidenhead will bring about 3 fans.

Updates in the thread later.

My understanding is that an inspection was due at 11:00.

Great at least one fan knows there was an inspection. We dont help ourselves there will be many people thinking is it on is it off. There will be some that make other plans. Looking at the kentishfootball site most of the games are off or have a comment about inspections or pitch condition.

A Simple.. no problems with the pitch or no inspection statement could have added 100 to the gate, with floaters, neutrals and welling fans seeing there were no problems.

Ex Wing Leon Soloman lining up for Maidenhead. I thought he was a good player for us, but hope that his standard has declined now he's playing against us.

We just had the ball in the net from a corner, but disallowed for a foul on the keeper.

One nil to Wings. Cumbers.
Keeper scuffed a clearance and Cumbers lobbed it into the net.

We've had a few goal of the season contenders, but that one from Loui is right up there. Cut inside from the left and hit it from just outside the box.

Fazakerley is the official man of the match, but for me Clarke was superb today; really fired up after getting a whack in the face early on and just seemed to be everywhere.
Johnson on for Andrews.

Referee is terrible. Lost control of this match long ago, and has bottled giving cards when he should have.
Maidenhead lucky to still have 11 men.

Eastleigh are 0-1 down to Braintree. Welling will overtake Eastleigh if they lose.

Well, two did as far as i could tell. I agree with elsewhere on here that plenty of people would have assumed that the match wouldn't be on today and didn't turn up, and that a word about it on the official website would have helped.

Oh and i thought the referee was a useless **** :D

Great result. How the ref never sent anyone off is beyond me and how he, or the lino, put up with Maidenhead boss Hippolyte is a mystery. He constantly swore and berated the officials non stop (i was  behind him in the stand in the first half).

I know he might have passion, and to be fair he doesn't have a pop at the fans, but he did overstep the mark. Weak officials who should have had a word early on.
Team of cloggers.

Great performance from Acheampong who seems to get stronger the more he plays, Clarke superb and Faz top drawer with an unstoppable shot. Missed Day in the middle to slow things down a bit but excellent in difficult circumstances.

Yeah Acheampong was great today. Lost count of the number of times he made last ditch tackles and headed the ball up to the half way line :D He's quite possibly our best defender now.

Yes a Maidenhead player hould have been sent off, specifically the spikey haired big lump of **** up front in the number 10 shirt! He was a dirty bastard and shouldn't have made half time. I didn't actually have a problem with anything the Maidenhead manager said, just the frequency of his comments to the referee, and for that reason he should have been sent to the stands.

The referee had quite a good game until the later part of the first half, then he totally lost it and put up with Maidenhead's dirty tactics.

Another 3 points in the bag, must get 3 winnable points next sat. WSM have an awful away record so need to keep that going. The next 3 league matches are all winnable for that matter, need to keep the pressure on and hope those around us drop points from their games in hand.

To call what we saw from the Maidenhead side today football is an insult to the game. No wonder they have so little support I certainly couldn't watch them week in and week out.

They were a very poor team who just foul and moan at the ref. Their 7 is horrible and 5 aint far behind him.

Pitch was superb, Well done Barry. but with Charltons offer of £5 entry and many games in area off. WE SHOULD have made a couple of statements through the morning saying game on. The crowd would have definitely been bigger. Nobody knew and while the club may think there was no danger of it being off... the fans looking out their window at the rain and seeing many games called off would have been in two minds whether to go.

Communication is money, FACT.

Totally agree. Clarke was different class today. I can understand Faz getting MOM though after that fantastic goal.

I don't think the ref lost control. He never had control in the first place. Horrible team Maidenhead. What a pity they have such a top bloke as Derek Brown on the staff.

Its a shame that Derek Brown who is a a nice guy and was a gifted player has ended up with a team who are simply a bunch of thugs. They would not be ought of place on a Sunday morning representing a pub team. How the 5 stayed on the pitch is beyond me and the fact they subbed the 7 was probably a good move before he took a red card. If Leon Soleman has moved here he would be better off dropping a league to a team who plays football and not basketball.

Three better goals you will not see this season, despite their 10 having more skills in his feet than his head in taking Sammy out. Top class goals from Loius and Faz.If I never see Maidenhead grace PVR next season it will be no loss. Every team can face a physical battle, a bunch of cloggers will not be missed.

Dont know how we managed to finish with full sides on the pitch, dont know how many were booked, but the ref issued more cards than Paul Daniels. Every week the performance seems to be worse if thats possible

Interesting from kent on line

Maidenhead's lack of discipline even led to their manager instructing his players midway through the second half that any more cautions for dissent would lead to a fine of one week's wages.

Though Anthony had a great game today, he seems to get better with each game. Clarkey deserves a mention. he keeps going despite all the knocks and needs to be one of the first names on the team sheet

MoM was a tough one between Faz and Clarkey with Anthony not far behind, We did it on the traditional first past the post system which some may argue is unfair. If the country decides to change the voting system in May then we will follow suit and adopt the alternative vote system in 2012, although it may then take several weeks to ascertain who the man of the match was. Its the worst part of sponsoring to be honest as usually the decision is met with stunned silenece.

Faz played well , must have been in with a shout , the goal would have clinched it. Clarkey did well as did Anthony, who gets better the more he plays. Parky and Sambrook made some great tackles and won the ball back which is being overlooked. Whats good is we won despite switching system again and Jamie, Ash, Frosty and Stace have switched between 3 at the back and 4 at the back depending on players available and oppo and the players have adapted well.

Whats frustrating is when teams are allowed to persistently foul and refs let them get away with it. The 5 was spoken to twice before he was booked, 10 gets a yellow for off the ball mauling of Acheampong, 3 gets a yellow for taking out Loui cynically. If its clear teams are trying to physically intimidate and foul teams early on the refs have to clamp down on it or they get away with it until late in the game the ref books them when there is no point then in doing it.

People where shouting its not all about you ref... well from reading David Rock's profile at ref world... it would seem it is...

What is the best game you have officiated and why?

The best and most exciting game was when I gave my first penalty as an Assistant Referee at Wycombe v Rochdale. The score was 0-0 going into the last minute of the game, when the ball entered the Wycombe penalty area a Rochdale player was fouled. I waited for the Referee to blow for the penalty but the whistle never went as his line of vision was blocked. I thought 'time to be stand up and counted for' and the correct decision was made. I will never forget that experience.

And that just shows what is wrong with referees and linesmen at non league level. Officials aren't there to hand out red cards, yellow cards, sending people off and giving penalties, they are there to keep the game running smoothly without bad incidents. These self important little Hitler's read the 1888 FA Rule book before running onto the pitch, and with their outdated ideas of how a game of football should be played, they let incidents of physical assault go by without punishment and games descend into farce (of course it's alright as long as Welling get at least a point :) ). I look forward to the next time that referee from yesterday comes back to the Park View Road ground and oversees another championship kick boxing bout with a full undercard!

An alternative point of view from

Steve Jinman (Maidenhead Press Officer) regarding some posts on this thread

"I was at the game yesterday and sincerely hope that none of those Welling fans whose comments are reprinted above have a conservatory as the rain will be pouring through the holes created by their online stones.
Welling were Maidenhead's equal if not worse in terms of fouls on the pitch and abusive language from the dugout. I notice no comment was made on the play acting from some of the Welling players.
I don't know if he was from Kent Online but the only person in the press box spent much of the game on his feet hurling abuse at all and sundry so I would take his report with a very large pinch of sodium chloride."

and

a Suffolk Groundhopper (presumably a neutral)

"Arrived a couple of minutes before kick-off for this 14:30 start. I liked the ground - a very old seated stand on one side of the pitch (which still has the base of an ancient floodlight pylon going through it, even though the pylon has been cut off at the height of the stand's roof), a modern seated stand on the other, and uncovered terracing at each end.

The game itself was reasonably entertaining. Welling went ahead when a poor clearance from the keeper left him out of position and he was lobbed from 35 yards. Maidenhead got back into it with a powerful strike in the second half, before Welling won it with just a few minutes remaining with another long-range effort. Disappointing to see the ref get a near-constant stream of abuse from the home fans, whose embarrasing bias towards their own team was almost Premier League-esque."
