Rare Song List
Permalink

A while ago, when I was going to start a(nother) Pulp website, I put together a list of rare songs containing the information on each one and its current status (i.e. if it is in circulation). I have just found the file on my hard drive and filled in a few blanks today.

Most of the information is gathered from PulpWiki or Truth and Beauty.

I cannot guarantee that absolutely everything on this list is 100% correct nor can I guarantee that it lists absolutely every Pulp song that can be classed as rare. I don't have time to work on it any more but if anyone wants to do something with it (i.e. add to it / put it on a website) then feel free.

Enjoy...

Do you mean a .rar archive of the list or the songs mentioned? I only have copies of the ones that are in circulation.

Wow, didn't realise there were SO many unreleased demos from 1999/2000! Funny to think that two years ago, After You would've been on that list.

There were even more instrumentals but they were eventually adapted and released. Off the top of my head

Jungle Rumble - Minnie
Candy's Spectre - Bad Cover Version
Disco too Disco - After You
Forever in My Dreams was also performed at the 2000 Meltdown festival as an instrumental

I, rather anorakly, compiled a dream-Pulp anthology release containing most of this stuff complete with crappily cobbled together artwork a few months back, never got round to posting it. Should be studying now but I'll post it at some stage.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do that but everything I have marked on that list as being in circulation is quite easy to find nowadays. Maybe check the Bar Italia Yahoo email accounts because I bet a lot of the songs I have listed are in there.

The ones that I have listed as not being in circulation - I do not have copies of.

I wonder if 'Steve Genn' he of 'Mr.Morality' could have tapes of early material? There is quite a bit of history there between himself and the guys..Perhaps a cup of tea down at Cafe #9 could reep rewards?

True. He seemed to be involved a lot during the mid-1980s (i.e. "They Suffocate at Night") but may have copies of older material than that.
