The Tao of David
Taiwanese R&B guru David Tao slps in a one-off performance for an Expo Hall full of rabid rans. THOM TOH checks it out.

"My Singapore fans... how are you?"
David roars from the backstage. Everyone goes into rapture. There is no denying how much the multitudes dig David Tao. They have been stomping their feet in anticipation for over two hours now, are certainly showing no signs of letting up anytime soon. The second David was seen swiping his cracked lips with his handy chapstick, the fanatic worshippers start beseeching him to toss it down to them. Some wishful thinking that was - triggering a wave of laughter across the Singapore Expo Hall 1.
30 April marked the end of a worthwhile wait. David's die-hard supporters finally got to meet him in person in concert. Along the way the talented artiste has been busying himself picking up accolades for his exceptional composing, songwriting, producing and singing. For his fourth album Times of Peace and Prosperity, the dedicated professional took nearly two years to wrap up - effort which has handsomely paid off now that his latest sales record has hit an all-time high across Asia. Additionally, his 'live' performance here has already drawn a full house of over 5000.
Never mind the customary three or four songs as expected of such a 2-hour music showcase. The avid fans were just not ready to leave or let David leave! No David Tao concert would be complete without the classic Ai Hen Jian Dan (I Love You). This was the song that first made everyone fall head over heels in love with David Tao. As he effortlessly scaled the high registers, the crowd lunged forward towards the stage, screaming for more.
David Tao is not one to disappoint. By year's end he will be back in Singapore as part of his concert tour spanning the areas which he has conquered musically. Those who have bought Times of Peace and Prosperity will automatically be granted admission for a whale of a time.
And for those who still crave for more of his R&B genius, you won't have to wait too long. If everything falls within his breakneck schedule, David Tao's fifth album will be out early next year. The years ahead are sure going to be times of peace and prosperity.
