Love Can Concert Reviews
Permalink

i just have to start a new thread about this mind blowing experience! i loved every single moment of it!!

The concert started late... in true singaporean fashion the people started strolling in at about nearly 8.30pm! anyways, the concert started with a video clip that showed dave piloting a helicopter that crashed. then the real dave was lowered down from above, he apparently did 2 somersaults, which i didnt even see! dont know how that happened, maybe seat was too near the stage. crowd starts screaming. (one disappointing thing is that most of the crowd didnt buy light sticks, which i feel are essential too in creating a gd atmoshere or at least they do help)

dave started with rain (zhao zi ji) the crowd sang along.. then after another one or two songs think airport 10.30 (cant exactly recall), no one stood up, dave sounded so exasperated and said "what can i do to make u guys stand up?!" with that, the crowd roared and stood up, i think to the song tao tan hong lou meng. dave looks statisfied. he sings to a more responsive crowd. then after a few more songs, he finally said i think the s'pore crowd is responsive! and he wanted to reward us! so me being the wishful thinking person thought he was gonna strip! yea baby! but alas, it's not meant to be! he instead sang melody which he claimed he usually did not sing. i'm a little disappointed  but still spirits high! dave proceeded to sing a medley of songs *think (sha tan + wang chun feng + ye lai xiang) the crowd loved it... then came the classic yue liang dai biao shui de xing. someone wolf wistled from the crowd when he'd finished! everyone getting into the concert mood already!!!

This was the part i loved.. dave interacting with the crowd! he sounded so sexy in is talking voice and welcomed his fans from all over the world. (japan china shanghai etc) the cheeky him then teased the SG fanclub (who were to my surprise less rowdy then i thought they would be, the FC was a little reserved i guess) then dave asked them "WHERE ARE YOU GUYS FROM??!!" the FC shocked and thus a little disorganised replied in a mess. dave replied in the cutest way possible.. pointing to where the FC was sitting, he simply said "I'LL BE BACK" which, sent the whole crowd into laughter! He did this a second time when the FC, flustered, still couldnt be heard then finally by the third time audible screams "XING JIA PO (singapore)!!!" could be heard!

I cant really remember the sequence of songs but when dave sang "xiao zhen gu niang" i couldnt help but stand up and dance!!! (though this irritating couple  behind were super pissed, i mean u're at a david tao concert man not some classical music concert so stand up and enjoy! but of course they were too grumpy to do so) i enjoyed myself to the max! dave sang with such gusto and clarity of voice! he looked yummilicious to boot!

The medley of english "oldies" that "only those above 30 would probably be familiar with" had the crowd up and dancing like crazy! dave sang em all together with david tan who's voice is truly pretty damn good! eps in sweet child of mine! After this segment i was perspiring as though after a good aerobics workout! i shouted "dave Ni hao bang (you're great!!) in the heat of the moment and he responded!! with "thank you" and "xie xies"

"hei se liu ding" and "gui" were also great songs to rock to!! one of the most memorable moments was of course the part when he sang "kong pau ji ding" and forgot his lyrics! he looked like a bashful little boy!  and dave true to his reputation for forgeting lyrics was constantly looking at his flat screen tvs on the stage. he looked like he was cheating during an exam everytime he shifted his eyes to the screens. Us, fans definitely didnt mind!

other favourites like "pu tong peng you" "angel" "ji mo de ji jie" were belted out perfectly. But david in his cuteness played a wrong note on his guitar right at the beginning of "pu tong peng you" it was so obvious cos it was unplugged. fans just had a good time laughing, but otherwise his guitar playing skills were thumbs up too!

the first time dave went down the stage to mingle with the fans, everyone went wild!! (well, maybe only those with $168 seats while the rest of us watched in jealousy! LOL) dave came back up the stage saying that someone touched him at a more sensitive area and he said "wo hui ba (i feel scared)" haha!

the second time he went down the stage, the FC was all pumped up and ready to go! they gathered in the front and dave asked them to sing really loudly and said if he were satisifed he would reward them! and they really did sing their loudest! to point of screaming! and dave REALLLY REWARDED THEM! he stood on the elevated step just behind the barrier and IMMEDIATELY a million hands plastered themselves onto his body!!!!

DAVID GOT MOLESTED!

haha not that he minded i think! the lucky devils!  bet they didnt wash their hands after that! i could only look on in envy!

the encore was "butterfly" (i think) "bastard" and "love can". butterfly was really touching cos i really do think it speaks of a certain time in life that most people experience. when we feel the most dejected and down but are lifted up because someone, whether God or a loved one didnt give up on us.

the song "Love can" ended this marvelous concert with a bang and left me wanting so much more.. i would definitely go for the next DT concert and but the most expensive tickets for *obvious resons.

just a mention, the stage really looked "neat" like david said in his earlier diary post this is because they spent alot more on getting everyone to wear wireless earpieces then have the stage all cluttered with i dont know what you call them (amplifiers?) anyway its those black box like things haha. the sound system was perfect i think, of all the concerts i've been to, this is the only one where there was NOT A SINGLE GLITCH in the sound system! his amazing voice was heard load and clear! EVERYONE should watch a david tao concert once in their life, or they have not lived!
