Girls: Australian Open Junior Championships 2007.

Naomi will play here. Jade is sixth in the alts and there are two SE spots, so she should get in.

No Tara. I guess that means she will be playing in South America during that period. It will be a smart move if she really does that, as they are all big tournaments with weaker draws. I think that she can crack the top 100 before Wimbly, maybe before Roland Garros if she plays enough tennis.

It will be a shame if Morita, Cornet and Paszek play here. They are in the top 200 in women's.

I am surprised that Stoop didn't enter with her WTA ranking. I thought that she would play qualies in Hobart and then here.
Or does it depend on the tournament authorities, whether to accept players with high enough WTA ranks or not?

This is Georgie's last year of juniors, she won't be eligible next year. We don't even know if she's going to take the feed up spot into Hobart.

I forgot that she is '88 born.
I keep on thinking that she is three months older than Naomi.

I doubt that she will fly from Britain just for playing qualies in Hobart.

It can change if Tennis Australia decides to return the favour of giving countless Australians wildcards into Wimbly but giving her a WC into AO qualies.

Will Naomi be trying for AO main draw qualies? (is her ranking high enough?) or just sticking to the junior event?

She's not high enough to get into AO qualies, you have to be top 240. She'll be just sticking to the junior event

Michelle Larcher de Brito is skipping this.
She must be playing those little tournaments in South America then. Not that impressive a choice.

Also, Pavluchenkova is risking her world number one position. Maybe she expects to reach the second week in women's .....

I doubt she cares about the #1 spot. She probably won't play any more juniors now.

Yes, that thought occurred to me too.
But she doesn't turn 16 till July and thus will be able to play very limited women's tennis between now and then. I thought that she would go for the slams till Wimbly.

This must be magic!

They updated the lists today and Nastya P's name has appeared on top of all the lists now.
I think that we can safely conclude that Tennis Australia's site is worse than the LTA one of old.

That means that Naomi Cavaday is the 19th name now (unless they are hiding more names).

Cavaday withdrew from Traralgon.
