I will not be maintaining the Welling United in the Kent Youth League website next season.
I had hoped that WUY would see the promotional opportunity which it offered them but outside of the Under 18's who are now scattered to the four corners of the South East this was not the case. The time it takes to maintain the website single handed just to post fixtures and results and keep an updated League table exceeds even my commitment to the benefits of youth football.
The viewing figures for the U18 pages which were updated with news, player profiles, player statistics, fixture details and match reports, were very healthy for a youth side site and from comments I have received were being viewed by those outside of Welling United/WUY.
The site has always been able to advertise Club and Team sponsors with banners and direct links to their websites and the recent addition of the Club Shop area allows the Club to benefit when supporters use it to order goods online at any of 1500+ websites.
I still believe that the website could have real benefits for WUY in many ways but they need to subscribe to it and that regrettably for whatever reason they have not done so.
I have offered to hand over the site to WUY and Gary Lisney was going to raise it at the AGM along with providing fixtures and results for the forum but since I understand that there were only 8 people at the AGM I think that this is unlikely to happen as those in attendance were probably the very people who have already invested a substantial part of their free time in WUY.
If anyone is prepared to take over the website or wants to know more about the site and its maintenance please either PM me or contact me at wingsfan@hotmail.co.uk

From everyone involved in the under 18's KYL this last season a huge THANKS for running the site and I know that the lads, and parents really appreciated the efforts that you put into it.
It makes it a real bonus to have the stats at hand and from a Manager's perspective it also gave me an opportunity to let the supporters know how things were progressing. It can also be a real income earner particularly if you can attract sponsors to the site. Surely something for WUY to think about. Having been asked by the KYL to be involved with their new website now I am no longer managing the side, I for one will be the first to ask you if I need help. I know that the League plan to increase substantially its revenue stream from the site. Makes financial sense if you get the hits!
Thanks again and for the spotlight it gave the boys. It was transparent, clear and equal to and very often much better than any other site in the KYL. (Ken Brooke).
