Now here's a funny thing. I posted a comment on the Daily Mail website, pointing out that the pic of the Germans was a fake. The next day it had disappeared. So I posted it again. It disappeared again. However, now the picture itself has gone. Who would have thought the Daily Mail would behave like that?

Mr Patch was also shown a recently discovered panoramic photograph of the fields taken in 1917.

There is a Jon Wilkinson who does illustrations and maps for military publishers, and the spelling is quite modern for WW1, so I suspect it's him.

Of course, after five years in East Anglia I quite took a liking to the natives (except that one lorry driver who spat out his window at me when he saw I was wearing US camo driving home one day after work!) . Not too mention profound respect for those who serve(d) their country. You hate to see national treasures go. I remember the interview of him shortly before he passed. I'm not sure if I was shocked at the fact that any were still alive (before he passed) or the fact that they were all gone afterwards. Humble chap he was.

Anyways, I figured the majority knew it was a few years old, but since I save pdf's of noteworthy news items I figured it was a good opportunity to put one of my files to use.

Come on, I know at least a few of you saved the pdf .
