I enclose a picture of a wrecked tank

The sponsons and roof hatch proclaim it a Mk IV but its census no. and track adjuster (see attached blowups) seem to indicate Mk I. I'm sure that this isn't the case - any explanations?

I think you'll find that the census number is actually the last 3 digits of a Mk IV 4 digit number, possibly 2732. 732 would be an incorrect number for the "sex" of the tank anyway, being a male Mk I number. The track adjuster is quite probably distorted by the shell impact just behind it.

And apparently the forum thought your pictures looked better on my post! That is getting really irritating.

I may be wrong (again) but its my impression that its only you that pictures stick to. Is it an issue with your set up? Is any one else suffering from this?

From what I've seen of the forums behaviour, I think what happens is as follows: Someone makes a post with an attachment, then when another post is made and edited later, the forum moves the attached files from the original post to the edited post. P.S.: And it only attaches them to the first edited post; any posts after that that are edited aren't affected.

That covers what happens; why it happens is still a mystery to me.

If the person who attached the, er, attachments then immediately after posting them edits their post, it might stop this weirdness?

It would be worth a try. I'm getting sick of being an attachment thief.

Err getting back to the original topic I've found at least one other Mk IV where only 3 digits (the last) of the census number is printed on the rear horns. This is (2) 336 which appears to be Fly Paper/Fan Tan. The missing digit hasn't just been obscured as the numbers are within a darker rectangle and all straight edges can be seen. Looking at the tank I posted for this thread I can see no sign of the missing digit being obscured either. Does any one know if it was common practice only to show the last 3 digits?
