You can still see the lyrics by clicking the "Red Letter Day" page then "History" at the top, in case you didn't know that already. Well here they are for anyone who doesn't want to click:

Was it love that I thought of
When I wrote to you on that day?
Or was it you I wish I knew
But now my letter's far away.

Now you replied....put it out of my mind.

You understood but that's no good.
...rejection's no relief

I couldn't scream. Or make a scene.
Just sit in....disbelief.

What you might say, your Red Letter Day.
Babe.

(spoken word) November, but no-one remembers.
Goodbye.

Looks more like a half remembered hearing than a genuine transcription. Is Trixie in our midst again?

That's certainly possible. However, very little is known about this song i.e. how close it got to being finished. It could be the "Heart Trouble" of 1982 but we'll never know unless we get to hear it...

I don't think the band were (capable of?) approaching the avant-garde nature of something like Heart Trouble at this stage. New wave, Joy Division style gloom and very slight pop tunes seemed to be their forte.

That said, there appear to be two surviving versions of this song. One as a live recording, and the other from the Rotherham demo. What little we know of them is discussed and analysed at Weej's excellent site.

...and that's me thinking it was one of the four that was picked. So yes, it is like Heart Trouble in that sense, then.

I love being wrong. I could make a career out of it.

By "Heart Trouble of 1982", I meant an unfinished intro song that only got played a handful of times then wasn't taken any further.
