I've just been reading (3 days after it was announced) that V Festival will be discontinued. I've just had a quick look over some of the old line-ups and judging by what I saw, we really had it good back in 1996. Not only did we get Pulp but Supergrass, Lightning Seeds, Shed Seven, Elastica and Super Furry Animals as well. 1997 was great too with Blur, Beck, Teenage Fanclub and Mansun. Even a few of the later ones still saw the likes of Ash, the Manics and Gomez. Unfortunately, I think it's gone downhill in the past 10 years since the likes of Will Young, Peter Andre and Justin Bieber were introduced...

All those wonderful artists on that flyer. Awesome. \o/

I disagree that it's gone downhill, though. Recent artists are still "The popular ones". Yung, Andrew, Beeper and the like are all popular for the kiddiewinks of today. We're just not the target audience.

I hate to say it, but.. .. We've gotten old!!!

V96 was over two whole decades ago...

I was just thinking - how great would it be if Pulp reunited to headline the final festival? It will never happen, mind
