It's like nothing I've ever heard from Pulp before, I'll say that! Eternally grateful for the uploads as always, Jason.

Wow! I had heard this at the book launch party. Thanks for uploading so that I can hear it again. Not really sure what to think to be honest; it's different to everything else they did.

I'll have a stab at the lyrics...

Sitting on the floor and ???
And the dreams of yesterday
Well I thought I could tell my friend
There's nothing left to say
Those eyes ???
And they slip away from me

How could you leave me with this pain inside?
How could you leave me with this pain inside?

Who would have thought you had so much power?
Not I for one, that's obvious
I assume the same
When life turned hard I scream and shout
They laugh and turn away
There's nothing left to talk about
There's things that you can never say

How could you leave me with this pain inside?
How could you leave me with this... pain?

Wail, sigh, moan and cry
Wail, sigh, moan and cry
Wail, sigh, moan and cry
Wail, sigh, MOAN AND CRY!

PATHETIC!

(I hate myself)

'Silence' is like 'Love Love' compared to this.

I wouldn't say it was dreadful, just different. It's hard to make a fair judgement when there is literally nothing else in the whole Pulp catalogue to compare it to (granted, "This is Hardcore" contains elements of jazz but it's still nothing like this). It's quite obvious if you listen to these recently uncovered songs that the 1982 Pulp were a group of teenagers trying out different things. It is interesting to note that a demo of this song was recorded and I'm guessing that the demo as a whole is quite varied; from what I can make out, "Barefoot in the Park" and "Teen Angst" are pop songs and "Why Live?" is a depressing ballad. There are also a couple of ska songs from this period so any resultant album would have been extremely varied indeed.

Absolutely. I'm loving the variety of songs that are coming out here. It's great being able to hear Pulp finding their footing and experimenting with different styles. I'm a big fan of super-early Pulp, so this past couple of weeks or so has essentially been Christmas come early on my end.
