Hello All,

Does anyone have any good sheet music for Pulp songs that you are willing to share with me?

In particular I'm looking for Babies & Mile End

I'm doing gigs with a piano player at the moment and I learned how to play guitar for all the Pulp songs I know how to play from the "...Play Guitar With...PULP" book (came with a CD of backing tracks too!)
and the Official sheet music books for Different Class & This Is Hardcore that they used to release in the old days (which are actually quite good!!)

Anyway - my piano player has told me the piano arrangements are shite - The online "pay for" sheet music sites haven't been of much help either! And to save us the chore of having to having to work out the piano arrangement from ear
and then using Cubase to arrange it...
I wondered if anyone here can help us out with something they have perhaps already done?

In return I'm quite happy to scan and upload my copies of those officail sheet music books I have - to share with this wonderful Pulpy community -  as I don't think they are available anymore, and and they are actually really wonderful!

Strange reading this thread as I've had a recent urge to play some of my favourite records on the piano. Downloaded the sheet music for a Sparks song just now and the other day on Ebay "won" the rare music books for Bowie's Lodger and Low albums (was a nice surprise to have the Station To Station songs at the back of the latter).

The Mile End sheet music is available, I guess cos it featured in a successful film. I find that a lot of sheet music can be hit and miss but often that's because the song recording has no or little actual piano playing and so it's an interpretation based on the instruments used (although even when you buy sheet music for an actual piano-performed song, it can also be lacking. A few years ago I was so pissed off after downloading the piano sheets for Old Town by Phil Lynnott which features an incendiary piano solo yet is "watered down" in the sheet notation). I think as a player you just have to mix-up the manuscript available with your own ear, not something I'm great at. There's an app called Jellynote that has a huge catalogue of songs and music notation. I've not checked it out fully but might be worth investigation.

I would highly recommend the piano sheet music for Tearjerker, it is spot-on (really hoping Chilly makes all the Room 29 songs available on sheet, he's quite progressive in encouraging people to try and play his (and other piano composers)' pieces). Dishes from the TIH book is also well-notated - the bridge part sounds lush when perfected ...). Although I guess they're both a bit too obscure/downbeat to play to the uninitiated!

Sometimes doing it by ear works out better in the long run, I suppose as you start to do it as your own.

Isn't Mile End just: duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei-dei? Or was that Misshapes? :)

For more Trainspotting covers, here's the drum notation for Born Slippy: kuTHUCKtse! kuTHUCKtse! kuTHUCKtse! kuTHUCKtse! kuTHUCKse! kuTHUCKse! kuTHUCKtse! (Allegro)

I like to think that enthusiasm trumps talent... but then I really have to

Nice work!

I've always liked the idea of an entire festival of Pulp covers bands. I mean, since the real band have probably wound-down forever... Imagine it: just one sunny, acrylic afternoon of bad cover versions, somewhere in a field in Hampshire. Probably closer to 50 than 20,000 people admittedly, but that doesn't devalue it.

I'd thought a single stage would be sufficient, but it'd be pretty psychedic wandering between two or three, seemingly all with the same band playing the same songs. Like some freaky time loop. Like what it was actually like inside my head between 1993 and 2006, with a strong reprise 2012-2015. The monomania is probably over, but it sure would be a nice place to visit so long as you remember where the exits are.

Anyway - I like your band and they should definately play Pulpfest / Acrylic Afternoon / whatever we decide to call it, since we're all definately on board and it's definately happening.
