Was looking into (pre-1991) Separations era Pulp and found this photo. I don't know exactly when this was taken but I presume this is from late 87/early 88?

I found it in an old copy of the Sheffield Star, Feb 1988 I think. That scan comes from a printout from the microfilm in Sheffield Library - the only copy I've seen. I've tried more than once to find out who took it in case there's a chance of finding a better copy - always drawn a blank.

Thanks Sturdy! I assume it was just a promotional shot for the band?

Yeah. It was on the Sheffield Star pop page when they did a little story about them. Obviously the only photo shoot that's surfaced with Antony Genn in the band. Nick said he remembered being most miffed when he bought the paper and he'd been chopped off the edge!

Yeah, you have to wonder what might've happened if that single had come out in 1988. They might've actually started making waves in a way they didn't till MLG 3 years later. Or equally, they might've been a minor indie flash in the pan then called it a day the following year! Who can say....

Fon not Fire. They'd paid for the recordings but had overstretched themselves somewhat and didn't have the resources to put them out.

Ah yeah...so they ended-up going back to Fire after that?
Need to revise my 80's Pulpstory, it's been a while.

Yep, that's about it! Tbh I never 100% got to the bottom of why things never worked out with Fon. Wish I'd been able to get hold of Dave Taylor.

DCTT / Rattlesnake would have been an amazing single. I seem to recall someone telling me that a white label was made - whether any truth in that, I dont know. I feel that this is false, as surely they would have manufactured the single having done a white label or test press.

No white labels as far as I know. It was never on any release schedule. There were a handful of homemade tape promos, I've got a scan of the sleeve somewhere.
