it looks like you do not like France as Jarvis do ;)

I was there. the show was cool, although a 'false start' occured due to a synths problem.. I imagine these seconds may have been long for Jarvis and the band.

2nd part of the show : Jarv is... songs with the new one ' Proceed to the Route'

The show was filmed professionally , so if you want to see Jarvis playing with the band, go check youtube for the 'arte concert'

Interesting show. Proceed To The Route gets better with every performance. Amd they played Aline twice. Wonder when he last repeated a song in a set (Live On in 1991/92?!).

It was obviously too fancy a place to bust-out "Cunts". I'm getting a bit tired of that song anyway.

In fact, you could make an argument for re-thinking all the non-Jarv Is... songs they currently play in their set. Opening with She's A Lady is a bit cruel. I don't think you can blame idiots shouting for Babies and Common People when the opening salvo is a Pulp song.

I'm also really surprised that he seems to have consigned Don't Let Him Waste Your Time to the dustbin. It was his last Top 40 single and the only one of his solo songs to do any business.
Black Magic live is also an "easy-win" given its immediacy. Angela too, arguably.

I think his current group could do something really fresh and interesting with the Further Complications torch-songs (Never Said I Was Deep and Leftovers). There just seems to be a lack of imagination on the legacy solo songs performed (Big Julie/Fat Children/Cnuts/Further Comps) when elsewhere they are being prolific and productive (full album, two soundtracks, a batch of new songs in two years).

I had been thinking on similar lines, although I thought Fat Children had also been consigned to the dustbin too until the last tour as I hadn't heard it played since that first Jarv Is tour when they did Peak Cavern.

Black Magic is one of my favourites & Don't Let Him Waste Your Time is a storming great live tune. If they were delving into Pulp's back catalogue; Ansaphone, Cuckoo Song, My Body May Die or Mile End (with those lush violin parts) would very most welcome.

I think Aline makes a great closer.

I guess they have to work up all this new material & they'll record it in a similar way to Beyond The Pale as it seems to work for Jarvis to get things done that way.

Pulp never really mixed it up that much either & tended to favour new material over nostalgia (before the reunion that is).
