How exciting Pulp are playing in 2023.

What songs do you think they will  play or hope they will play?

Given the Instagram post it could be mainly Different Class / TIH. Do you think they will play any new material?

I wish they'd get some early stuff in but I'm expecting a bit more TiH and WLL, but I hope they keep the His n Hers tracks too. DC dominated the last reunion's sets so I wouldn't mind a reduction of some of those songs.

A pretty long shot but if they play Wishful Thinking, I will be over the fucking moon.

But yeah, The Fear, Sunrise, Feeling, She's a Lady (given that Jarvis has been playing that quite a lot. At least one Epic song like SSC or The Wickerman. Bar Italia obviously.

Given that it is 25 years since This is Hardcore, maybe they'll get around to finally playing "The Day after the Revolution"

Week long residency at the Leadmill, album a night, including B-sides / rarities, with guest appearances from relevant ex members. That'd be nice wouldn't it?

In terms of anything different from a decade ago, it would be great at the very least for After You to be considered on the "A-list".

Jarvis seems quite willing to delve when choosing encores for his shows. I wouldn't be surprised if this was more Brixton than Barcelona. First reunion for mass appeal, second for the fans? Especially if 'a few shows' rather than something longer. I'd expect at least a few tracks from Intro & Separations, and maybe a few real rarities from earlier - some 'Lighthouses' moments (what a night, eh?).

After You, Cuckoo Song, Duck Diving, Quiet Revolution etc...

Record the performance, whack it out as an album.

Presumably it will also depend on whether they are at festivals or doing their own shows? Even at the Sheffield Arena show, Jarvis seemed anxious about the 3 song time travel section going on too long for the audience.

Like people have said the 2011 shows were very heavy on Different Class and His N' Hers. I'm not expecting them to drop too much from Different Class, but hopefully we'll get some more stuff from This Is Hardcore and We Love Life rather than just the Hardcore title track and Sunrise, because they are two wonderful albums.

Partially depends on Russell being involved I guess. It's a tricky one. I'd rather he was there but I also want to hear a chunk of songs from the last two records.

I would be very happy with something like this:

Main set: The Fear/DYRTF/Your sister clothes/Underwear/After You/The Trees/Disco 2000/Live bed show/Pink Glove/FELLINGCALLEDLOVE/Babies/TIH/Sylvia/Common People/Bar Italia

Encore 1:Like a friend/Sunrise/Razzmatazz/Something Changed

Encore 2:Death II/Help the Aged

I love how 'After You' has gone from being an obscure unreleased demo, to being released as a single which is then performed on the Jonathan Ross Show, to (a remixed version) being featured in the second-highest-selling video game in history. Quite the progression.

I think that it will be similar to the last reunion. Greatest hits/best of set with "Do You Remember the First Time?" as the opener and the odd "rarity" such as "My Lighthouse" or "Back in LA" thrown in for good measure.

It would be nice to hear more "This is Hardcore" material. As Eamonn says above, it may depend on Russell's involvement. "Sylvia" was always a great live song and "The Fear" is just a great song overall. I also liked the way they performed "Party Hard" last time.

Here's a thought: what if the new Jarv Is songs are prototypes for new Pulp songs? Here's to hoping.

Hmm, that would be disrespectful to his current band and they are quite collaborative so I can't see it being the case. I wonder how he's going to juggle both though.

What I Think

I suspect it will be similar to last time out.  Different Class + Island/Gift singles.  A few other songs thrown in.  Pulp will want to please the whole audience not just the obsessives.

What I Hope

They play all 150 or so recorded tracks in chronological order of release/recording.  Of course, it would have to be over a week at a nice seated venue, preferably Barbican.  And I would have tickets in the front row in stalls for every night.

I guess if they have new material that is any good they will play it.  Maybe a live rendition of After You if nothing else.

I hope if it is a 90 min show we get 15 songs, 2 hour show we get 20 songs.

Playing all their material over the course of a week is a great idea. I can't remember who said this but apparently they rehearsed (or most likely in some cases, attempted a quick run through) of absolutely everything prior to the last reunion.

It would feel a bit strange if they played two albums per night in chronological order. "It" and "Freaks" are poles apart and their sound had changed quite a bit between "Separations" and "His 'n' Hers". Also, they could throw "Intro" in there as well as it hangs together well as an album.

I'd do it the following way:

Night 1: 1981 Peel Session / some 1982 songs / It
Night 2: Freaks / Separations
Night 3: Intro / His 'n' Hers
Night 4: Different Class / This is Hardcore
Night 5: We Love Life / lost songs from 2000-2001 / new songs

Imagine that?

They could push it to at least 6 nights I think. There are enough songs circa Freaks (eg the Fire EPs, Sudan Gerri songs etc) for that to be a whole night on its own. So Seps+Intro for the next one (hey, that's what the live set in 1992 basically was), then HnH/DC, then a night for Hardcore and associated B sides, and the final night as you say.

But basically, yes please!
