 The counter seems to have reset to 31 days, but yes, with very slow progress so far that's still a stretch. I'm still thinking about it: if there was only the £40 option, I'd probably have gone for it immediately. But I always have that old 'Argos catalogue' mindset, of going for the most expensive thing there, and it's a LOT of extra money for a little print, a photo, and some badges.

Going to top up my bank account to see what tickets I can get on Thurs / Fri, so this'll have to wait.

Endorsements on social meeds from Jarvis and Pulp have helped the target, its now reached 70% but the fundraiser is due to expire at the end of the month. Will probably fall short of the target but having come so far, I guess it will be pushed into December.

I think the proposed publishing date has already been pushed back but hopefully it does get made. Would be a shame with over £30k now committed from Pulpheads.

Jarvis Cocker once lamented that the enduring legacy of Britpop was the "untucked shirt". As laddism seemed to take over, Pulp leant into that creeping sense of bloat and decline to craft their 1998 dark masterpiece This Is Hardcore. "There was a feeling not just to replicate Different Class and take things to the next level" says photographer Paul Burgess, recruited to document the decadence. "The budget got bigger so the ambition was raised tp the next level", says Paul Burgess, recruited by Cocker to document the decadence. The "...Hardcore" video took a week to shoot at Pinewood and cost a great deal of money to make. Kubrick was on the set next door filming Eyes Wide Shut at the time. There was a huge dedication by everyone to make something as artistic as possible". 

Burgess's behind-the-scenes photos of Pulp from the period are collected in a high-spec new tome called simply Hardcore. As well as the grandeur of the videos and cover shoots, with their references to the films of Douglas Sirk and Alfred Hitchcock, Burgess captured a band finding a way to process huge and unexpected success. "Jarvis had a lot to cope with in 1997-98, dealing with his fame and all that it brings" he reflects. "This is reflected on the This Is Hardcore album. [But] my personal memory of being on the set of the "...Hardcore" video shoot at Pinewood was of humour - Jarvis is very funny." 

Burgess took the photo on this page at the end of the video shoot for the album's fourth single Party Hard, which was inspired by kitsch German tv variety shows of the 1970's and the art of Allen Jones. "Everyone is relaxed and happy the shoot went well. The dancers were exhausted after several hours of cartwheels and Jarvis had just done a little thank you speech for them all."

Serendipitously, the release of the book coincides with Pulp's latest reunion jaunt around the parks, arenas and festivals of the UK this summer. Will Burgess be going? "Hell, yes!"

Specifically wasn't it something like a tubby chap in a Ben Sherman shirt getting sucked-off?

Given recent news as well, it'll be nice to see photos of all the band when they were younger and being so artistic. Hoping for some nice photos of Steve, there were some lovely shots of him during the TiH video. Also Nick being a casanova at the bar.

Also hoping for some behind-the-scenes photos of the bit where Jarvis is all tied up, for sheer awkwardness and comedic effect. Bonus points if someone had to storyboard that.

I don't know why I'm thinking of this, but isn't there an urban legend that the album cover for TiH is cropped, and in the wider shot, Steve is... um... also present? Someone tweeted that, a while ago, but I'm taking it with a pinch of salt.

 I distinctly remember seeing that as well. I think it might have been in an article about Horst Diekgardes who did the photography or Peter Saville. I think I saw it crop up on Tricia's twitter feed a while back but understandably, I don't want to ask her right now
