Yeah, a bit shitty to do that unless as you say, he was told not to reveal something.

I reckon he got over excited, and was silenced by the management.

Didn't Jarvis once say that he fancied writing Britain's entry for it?!

He toyed with it in 2007:

Jarvis Cocker loses interest in Eurovision involvement (nme.com)

The NME wrote:

In January this year he said he was up for the contest, saying: "The door is always open if they want to ask me. I've always wanted to write one for them. Maybe Ill do it next year." However today (December 5) his spokesperson seemed to indicate he had gone off the idea, telling The Independent: "Sorry, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that one."

Without any shadow of a doubt, Nick has been silenced by someone or something. Ive been suspicious of things for sometime now regarding this reuniting of Pulp. Back in 2011, there was a big deal with festival announcements up and down and the globe. This time it appears that it seems primarily focus around the UK. There was announcements on a very regular basis - and considering that there was a band member who wouldnt travel by air (Russell). We also all knew that it was very much a "cash in" for the band, and we knew that there was a final gig announced for Sheffield Arena that was to be the final hurrah. This time round, they are still playing AFTER the two Sheffield Arena gigs - at Latitude.

Now...remember when I posted about the lack of activity after the gigs for 2023 were announced - sadly the passing of Steve Mackey turned out to be the reason for this. HOWEVER things still feel different. Nick has always been the "cheeky chap" kinda guy, and ive experienced this personally with him addressing post to me by calling me "Scott "The Nutter" Frazer....He is clearly excited about the tour as you would expect, especially with the tweets he has been posting for sometime - although the tweet about "Big Announcement Tomorrow" seemed very out of character in my opinion, and then to back track from his statement with the "14 days" photo along with the "Im sure there will be some other stuff soon....maybe....

I honestly do not know what is in the pipeline, but something clearly IS.

Further tour dates? - Well, I cant see how that would really be a "big announcement" considering there wasnt too big a deal about other tour dates being announced periodically upon the news of a reunion.

Glastonbury - Again, I dont see why it would be a big deal. The headline acts for the Pyramid stage has been announced ages ago, and Pulp are too big a name for other stages - Park stage was a surprise back in 2012, however that was expected to happen.

World Tour - The dates and locations that have already been released are all UK and Ireland. Festivals would surely be announced periodically throughout the year since the announcement of the reunion and this hasnt happened. So possibly a big European or World Tour COULD be possible.

Nicks Book - It could be possible the big announcement was to do with that?

Super Deluxe Reissues - other bands eg Supergrass, Suede etc have released reissues with countless alternate mixes, outtakes, demos etc - to be honest, Pulps reissues have all been pretty vague, however they were released quite some time ago - so this is a possibility.

OR.........

A NEW ALBUM - well, why not? Nick has had a new drum kit afterall....

I honestly think whatever it is, its HUGE and its gonna be bigger than we are all thinking.

A new album would be fantastic but I think that it's unlikely. They are going to make a fortune through the live shows so I doubt that they would go through all the trouble of recording something new. The market is a lot different to the last time they released an album. For example, Suede's latest album got to number 2 by selling under 15,000 copies. I dare say Pulp's would do the same but is it really going to be worth their while?

Super deluxe reissues sound a bit more plausible. The recording has already been done so they would stand to make a lot more from these. As you say, the previous reissues could easily be expanded and enough time has passed to reissue again. Also, interest in the band is arguably at its highest in years so now would be a good time to do it. Let's hope that they include "We Love Life" this time around.

My money is on extra tour dates, most likely outside of the UK.

US/Latam dates (maybe Japan/Oz/NZ too) would be my guess.

In terms of new stuff, the best I can imagine is a one-off single for RSD in June or during the summer when they're playing and even at that I think it would be a remix/re-record of old material not released before in the same vein as After You.
New remixes of Live On/Cuckoo on a 7/12 inch would be amazing.

Jarvis was writing and playing with Jarv Is...up to last summer and into autumn he was still busy promoting his book. Since the reunion announcement Steve was not involved and ill so I'd be very surprised if they came up with new material without him, out of respect as much as all the other reasons they haven't bothered since 2002!

I haven't been following the updates. Has Russell or any other members from the 80s given hint to participating in this tour?

I am thinking this tour might be a life-time retrospective tour, especially with Steve's passage and Jarv's nostalgic ruminations in his book and speaking tour.

Also would make sense why they've opted for small-ish UK venues instead of an international tour of bigger venues and festivals. Nobody needs to get on a plane.

I think the outpouring of requests from America, well specifically South America, will see that they go there. I hope so, those fans are so passionate and patient.

I'd imagine there's a bit of material they didn't get to revisit last time that they might want to this time. Steve's passing will have provoked them to reflect and look back - so many memories. They might want to play some of his old favourites, or some songs that they particularly enjoyed recording together.

Having Russell be with them last time was obviously brilliant, but one consequence was that half the shows drew heavily from H&H/DC at the expense of TIH and WLL. Even after he left, they couldn't rehearse an infinite amount of songs, so those later albums still didn't get a huge amount of rotation. Without Steve's bass expertise, and his knowledge of the arrangements and what to ad-lib, they might not rehearse so many songs; but if Russell isn't joining, then they have a freer hand to select their songs to rehearse. (Which, of course, they've already done.) Likely fewer songs, but perhaps a more balanced selection from past eras. They played a lot of Different Class last time round - even Pencil Skirt and Monday Morning got constant airings. Jarvis might not fancy that, this time.

It'd be nice to see Russell join them at Sheffield, even though he almost certainly won't (for one thing, he hates the arena). A nice surprise.

I don't want to speculate but I have this weird feeling that they may have drafted Anthony Genn in to do something.

Just a feeling like.

Good shout. Think he still runs a studio in London with Martin Slattery.
