Hello

I've just this minute realised that my book will be 20 years old this July, and the actual date coincides with the Friday Sheffield date - which I was going to anyway.

Wondering about doing something to mark it, but not sure what. Would there be any appetite for a meet-up in Shef that afternoon before going over to the gig? Get a space in a bar somewhere? Not sure what else - maybe a Q & A? Or just put some tunes on and hang out? Not promising any celeb guests but...

What would people fancy doing, if anything?

Yes to all the above! It could be truthful and beautiful in equal measure (as long as they match with the chairs and the sofa).

I might come to this, but at some point that weekend I'm hopefully meeting up with John Quinn again. Probably on the Saturday so yes if I get into Sheffield early enough I'll definitely give this a look in.

Is that the Sheff Star journalist? He might want to join too.

Yep, the very same. Journo turned playwright these days!

Anyone know any good pub function rooms in Shef?

Yes, John was highly instrumental in helping get EHAT off the ground.

I really have to try and finish it. I'm only about 2/3 of the way through post production and several times I have been sorely tempted to just can it completely

Big push tomorrow. Wish me luck

I won't be able to make it to Sheffield, but just dropping in to say that I adore this book, it's a treasured possession. Pre-emptively wishing it a very happy birthday! Congratulations, Sturdy.

I agree with the other comments, it is the only Pulp book that I have read more than once. It is particularly great to read what the ex-members from the 1980s have to say.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to Sheffield next month. It was great to be able to go to the launch party 20 years ago. The highlight for me was "Silence" being played as the last song and Magnus or Tim (I can't remember which one) saying "Oh, shut up Jarvis!". It was also great to meet people such as Havenhand, Hawley, Hinkler and those whose surnames don't begin with H.

Did anything come of this, comrade? I haven't quite figured out if I'm coming up that weekend yet, but my sister has selfishly arranged a wedding anniversary party on the same date of the Finsbury Park gig so I might see if I can wrangle a Sheffield...

Aah, hello there!

Haven't done anything about the idea so far other than start this thread. But I still might do. Would be lovely to see you.
